Sports Prediction Rules
PART A: INTRODUCTION
1. Interpretation
These House Rules apply to all picks submitted on the Courtside platform. In any conflict between these House Rules and the Courtside Terms of Service, these House Rules prevail regarding the settlement of picks.
All references to "picks" refer to predictions made using virtual currency on the Courtside sweepstakes platform. Courtside is not a sportsbook and does not accept wagers or bets. All transactions use virtual funds (Courtside Coins and Courtside Cash) as described in the Terms of Service.
Where any term or condition is not explicitly covered, Courtside reserves the right to make decisions in the interest of fair play and integrity.
2. Customer Responsibility
Users are responsible for understanding these House Rules before submitting any pick and for familiarizing themselves with the specific rules for each sport.
Courtside is not responsible for picks submitted in error. Once confirmed by the system, a pick will stand unless Courtside determines, in its sole discretion, that an obvious error has occurred.
Users are responsible for the security of their account credentials and for all picks placed through their account. Any pick confirmed through a user's account is treated as authorized by the account holder.
3. Disputes
Disputes regarding pick settlement must be raised with Courtside Customer Support within 30 days of the event's completion. Courtside will investigate all disputes in good faith.
Courtside's decision on any dispute is final. In the event of a disagreement regarding a result, Courtside will use the official result as declared by the relevant governing body.
4. Anti-Fraud and Fair Play
Courtside reserves the right to void picks, suspend accounts, or withhold virtual funds where we reasonably suspect fraud, collusion, manipulation, or any activity that undermines fair play.
Courtside employs monitoring systems to detect suspicious activity, including but not limited to: irregular pick patterns, use of multiple accounts, exploitation of technical errors, and coordinated activity among accounts.
PART B: GENERAL RULES
1. Prohibited Persons
The following persons are prohibited from submitting picks on Courtside:
- Any person under the minimum age requirement in their jurisdiction.
- Any person in a jurisdiction where participation on Courtside is prohibited.
- Courtside employees, officers, directors, and their immediate family members.
- Any person suspended or banned from the platform.
- Athletes, coaches, referees, team owners, and others with insider knowledge of events offered on Courtside, with respect to picks on their own sport or league.
2. Pick Types
Courtside offers the following pick types. Each pick type may have specific rules that supplement these General Rules:
2.1 Straight Picks
A single prediction on one event or market. If correct, the pick wins; if incorrect, it loses. If the event is voided or the result cannot be determined, the pick is declared No Action and the risk amount is returned.
2.1.a Player Props
If a player starts a game, results will be settled based on the player’s statistics at the conclusion of the game, regardless of whether the player plays the entire game or is removed from the game early due to substitution and/or injury.
2.2 Parlay Picks
Combines two or more selections ("legs") into a single pick. All legs must win for the Parlay to win. If any leg loses, the entire Parlay loses.
If one or more legs are declared No Action, the Parlay is recalculated at the reduced number of legs. If all legs are voided, the entire Parlay is declared No Action.
2.3 Same Game Parlay (SGP)
Combines multiple selections from the same event. All selections must win. SGP odds include correlation adjustments.
If any SGP selection is declared No Action, the entire SGP may be declared No Action or recalculated at Courtside's discretion, depending on the voided selection's impact on remaining selections.
3. Odds and Lines
All odds and lines are subject to change prior to pick confirmation. The odds at the time of confirmation apply.
Courtside may suspend or remove markets at any time. If a market is suspended during pick submission, the pick will not be accepted.
4. In-Play (Live) Picks
In-play picks are subject to the following additional rules:
- A slight delay may apply to in-play pick acceptance.
- Courtside reserves the right to reject any in-play pick.
- In-play picks settle based on events occurring after confirmation only.
- If a significant event occurs during the submission-to-confirmation delay (e.g., a goal, ejection), Courtside may void the pick.
5. Results and Settlement
Picks are settled based on the official result declared by the relevant governing body. If no official result is available, Courtside will use publicly available, authoritative sources.
Settlement may be delayed where results are under review or require additional verification. Once settled, the result is generally final. Courtside reserves the right to resettle picks if:
- The governing body changes the official result after initial settlement.
- Courtside identifies an error in the original settlement.
- A regulatory authority directs resettlement.
Users will be notified of any resettlement, and virtual fund adjustments will be applied accordingly.
6. Resettlements
If a governing body changes an official result after settlement (e.g., doping disqualification, revised official time), Courtside reserves the right to resettle affected picks at any time.
Post-event statistical corrections (e.g., reassigned rebounds or assists) will generally not trigger resettlement unless the correction materially affects a market outcome.
7. Unexpected Events
Courtside reserves the right to void picks, suspend markets, or take appropriate action when circumstances may compromise event integrity, including but not limited to:
- Technical failures or broadcast interruptions.
- Severe weather or natural disasters.
- Security incidents or threats.
- Evidence of match-fixing or corruption.
- Any other event that, in Courtside's reasonable judgment, compromises competition integrity.
8. Futures Picks
Futures picks are on outcomes determined at a later date (e.g., league champion, tournament winner). They are generally accepted all-in, meaning the risk amount is not returned if the selected participant withdraws, unless otherwise stated at the time of the offer or in sport-specific rules.
Settlement is based on the official result. If an event is cancelled with no official result, Courtside will determine settlement based on circumstances and applicable sport-specific rules.
9. Abandoned, Cancelled, Postponed, and Forfeited Events
Unless overridden by sport-specific rules in Part C:
9.1 Abandoned Events
If an event starts but is not completed, picks on conclusively determined markets stand. All other picks are declared No Action.
9.2 Cancelled Events
If cancelled before start, all picks are declared No Action and risk amounts returned, unless the market can be determined regardless.
9.3 Postponed Events
If rescheduled within 48 hours, picks stand. If not rescheduled within 48 hours, picks are declared No Action unless sport-specific rules provide otherwise.
9.4 Forfeited Events
Courtside settles picks based on the official forfeit result. If the forfeit occurs before the event begins, Courtside may declare all picks No Action.
10. Venue Changes
Picks generally stand if a venue changes, unless the change results in a home/away swap, in which case Courtside may void all picks on the affected event.
11. Periods of Time
Picks on specific periods, halves, or quarters relate only to the specified period. Overtime or extra time is not included unless explicitly stated.
12. To Qualify Markets
In "to qualify" or "to advance" markets, the selection must advance to the next round. Method of advancement is irrelevant. If neither competitor advances, picks are declared No Action.
13. Dead Heats
Where two or more participants tie for a position, returns are calculated by dividing the full return by the number of participants in the dead heat.
14. Obvious Errors
Courtside reserves the right to void or correct any pick placed at odds materially different from true odds due to an obvious error, including but not limited to:
- Clearly inverted odds (e.g., heavy favorite listed at underdog odds).
- Odds significantly out of line with the broader market.
- Odds affected by a technical glitch or system error.
Courtside will compare odds offered to the true probability at the time of confirmation. Voided picks due to obvious error will have risk amounts returned.
15. Event Listing Errors
Courtside may void all picks on events listed with incorrect details (e.g., wrong date, participants, league). If the error does not materially affect the market, picks may stand at Courtside's discretion.
16. Maximum Winnings
The maximum return on any single pick (including parlays) is $1,000,000 in virtual currency equivalent unless otherwise agreed in writing. This applies to total potential return including the risk amount. The same limit applies per event across all picks by a single user. Courtside may limit or void picks exceeding this amount.
17. Parlay Rules
In addition to Section 2.2:
- Courtside may restrict certain selections from being combined in a parlay.
- Correlated selections identified after submission may result in the parlay being voided with risk amount returned.
- Minimum two (2) legs required. No maximum, subject to system limitations.
- Teasers (parlays with adjusted spreads) may be offered for select sports with rules displayed at submission.
18. Cash Out
Courtside may offer Cash Out, allowing users to settle a pick before event conclusion at a value reflecting the current state of the event. Cash Out offers are at Courtside's discretion and may be suspended, modified, or withdrawn at any time. A request is not confirmed until accepted by the system; if conditions change, the request may be rejected. Cash Out is not available for all picks or markets.
19. Odds Boost
Courtside may offer enhanced odds ("Odds Boosts") on selected markets, subject to:
- Available for a limited time; may be withdrawn at any time.
- Maximum pick amounts may apply and will be displayed at submission.
- May be limited to one per user per market.
- Courtside may restrict or remove Odds Boost eligibility for any user.
20. Miscellaneous
Courtside reserves the right to amend these House Rules at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
These House Rules are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Courtside operates. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
